RPI drops 0.51% in December, inflation at 2.37%

According to the Central Office of Statistics, in December 2000 the Retail Price Index declined by 0.58 points or 0.51 per cent over November and reached 113.51.

Meanwhile, December's rate of inflation stood at 2.37 per cent.

The sections that were monitored in the latest study for index purposes included food, personal care and health and other goods and services.

The food items index went down by 1.93 points or 1.71 per cent to 110.91 from 112.84 in the previous month. Price drops were recorded for fresh fish, fresh vegetables and fresh fruits. A price increase was registered in respect of potatoes.

The personal care and health index went up by 0.03 points or 0.03 per cent. At the same time the other goods and services index declined by 0.05 points or 0.05 per cent.
