IoD attracts over 100 delegates

The Institute of Directors (IoD) Corporate Goverance Workshop to be conducted by Peter Barrett from IoD Hong Kong on 29 May has attracted over 100 delegates necessitating a change of venue to the Corinthia Attard. Commenting on the switch of venue Mr James Satariano, IoD’s Chairman said "The event has been an unprecedented success and we have taken a decision that will ensure the comfort of all our speakers and delegates to move the event to the Corinthia in Attard, just a couple of hundred metres from the original venue.

The principles and provisions under the Hampel Committee’s Combined Code allow for more flexibility but, at the same time, call for more thoughtful interpretation of the issues and open dialogue with companies. In Malta, we must become acquainted with what is going on elsewhere while seeking progress in our own institutions and companies. IoD are helping directors to see new policies are fulfilled. IoD are compiling the right tools to analyse the right data - at the right time and becoming the authoritative source of comparative governance data and analysis in Malta."

This full day workshop will cover important topics such as responsibilities and structure of the board, strategic thinking at board level and how to build successful companies and will have Finance Minister John Dalli as a guest speaker amongst other top-level speakers.

Mr Barrett is Managing Director of Organisation Development Limited in Hong Kong and formerly General Manager of Hong Kong Telecommunication and a main Board member of Hutchinson Whampoa. The event itself will be now be held at the Corinthia in Attard and is intended for directors working in the private sector as well as the directors of listed companies .
