Malta Enterprise Board holds round two

Economic Services Minister Josef Bonnici, chaired the second meeting of the Advisory Council to the Malta Enterprise Board last Saturday, the first such meeting since 28 July.
The Malta Enterprise Board is an ad-hoc committee established, within the Economic Services Ministry, to effectively co-ordinate the ministry’s activity in the fields of enterprise policy and business development. It includes, amongst others, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for Economic Services and the Chairpersons of MDC, METCO, IPSE and MIMCOL.
The Advisory Council is made up primarily of persons of Maltese origin who have made a name for themselves in various areas of business activity outside of Malta, while the Council’s aim is to put the expertise and experience of its members at the disposal of the Economic Services Ministry to advise and assist the Malta Enterprise Board in the realisation of its objectives.
At last weekend’s meeting, the Council held a discussion on the draft Industrial Policy document, which is now close to being finalised.
The Board also focussed on the definition of a strategic planning framework to guide the workings of the Ministry for Economic Services in general and of the Malta Enterprise board in particular.
The Board additionally analysed reports that focus on the potential represented by three specific business sectors, oil and gas exploration and related services, the maritime sector and the knowledge-driven economy.
