Borg Olivier re elected as UFTAA director

The 35th World Congress of the Universal Federation of Travel Agents’ Associations, with its headquarters in Monaco, was held in Tunisia between 23-27 January. The new UFTAA-Monaco Statute, which came into effect in 2002, reduces the world regions from 16 to 9 and allows for one director to represent one region.

Europe is now represented by two directors, down from four and is divided into Europe 1 and Europe 2.

Malta’s member, the Federation of Associations of Travel & Tourism Agents – Malta (FATTA), was represented by its President, Joe Borg Olivier who has contested the post for Director of Europe 2 (Region 4).

Mr. Borg Olivier was re elected as Director for Region 4 for a term of two years. This region is composed of Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Israel, Latvia, Macedonia, Malta, Poland, Rumania, Slovenia, Yugoslavia and Turkey.

At its first meeting the UFTAA President and Board distributed responsibilities to each Director and allocated the portfolio of Congresses Director and Incoming Tourism Director to Mr Borg Olivier.
