Emirates teams up with InterContinental Malta for Cypriot food feast

Emirates, the award-winning airline that flies from Malta to Cyprus five times weekly, has teamed up with InterContinental Malta to host a Cypriot gastronomical feast next Saturday at 8.00pm.
Organised in collaboration with the Cyprus Tourism Organisation, the celebration will take place at InterContinental Malta, St Julian’s.
A chef from InterContinental Aphrodite Hills Cyprus will be flying over to Malta specifically for this event. He will create an exquisite menu with fresh Cypriot ingredients. This will include a selection of meze and a delicious buffet of typical Cypriot dishes, accompanied by fine wines from Cyprus.
Traditional music provided by a Cypriot musical band, together with dancers and other performers will be entertaining the guests.
Marco Frik, General Manager InterContinental Malta said: “InterContinental Malta organises themed cuisine promotions from around the world on a regular basis where in the past couple of years, we have hosted gastronomical events including Lebanese, Chinese, French and American.
“We are now proud to be associated with Emirates Airline and the Cyprus Tourism Organisation to bring a combination of authentic food, wine and culture to Malta.”
Paul Fleri Soler, Emirates Manager for Malta and Cyprus, said: “Emirates started flying from Malta to Dubai via Cyprus on 1 October 2005. This service, which offers passengers the opportunity to fly directly between Malta and Cyprus, has been a great success for both countries and Emirates.
“Although a Mediterranean country like Malta, especially in terms of hospitality, Cyprus offers great potential for the Maltese seeking a relaxing holiday just 90 minutes away from Malta.”
On his part, Christos Moustras, Cyprus Tourism Organisation Marketing Officer said: “Cyprus is an island of contrasts offering beautiful sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, picturesque villages and pine- scented mountains.
“Numerous ancient sites are located around the island. The changing landscape within short distances provides endless opportunities for Maltese visitors. Like Malta, Cyprus is one of the oldest civilizations of the world going back 10,000 years.”
Furthermore, as from 2 May 2008, Maltese business and leisure travelers can fly to Larnaca, Cyprus, on the new Emirates Boeing 777-300 aircraft. On board passengers will find the latest comforts, gourmet meals and superb amenities for which Emirates is renowned.
Reservations for the Love Cyprus event on Saturday 19 April can be made at InterContinental Malta, telephone no. 21 377 600.
