First Maltese Hotel accredited with the Hospitality Assured Label MTA assisting 11 others SAS Bay Point Resort, recently become the first property in the Maltese tourism sector to be accredited with the Hospitality Assured Label. Hospitality Assured, the internationally recognised set of standards for the Service industry, was launched by the Human Resources and Support Services Directorate of the MTA last June. This project is one of the key programme identified in the Malta Tourism Authority's Strategic Plan 2000-2002. As an incentive to applicants, the MTA created a subsidy scheme with assistance ranging from 40 per cent of assessment cost for 4 and 5 star hotels, travel agencies and destination management companies, to 65 pet cent for the lower category hotels. Subsidy for restaurants stands at 55 per cent. Great emphasis has been made on three star properties and catering. The MTA is anticipating that there will be 11 other operators who will join the Island Hotels Group and proudly display the Hospitality Assured plaque on their properties by early 2002. Feedback received from operators was very positive, most of them reporting that the scheme was very effective in the improvement of their human resources output and the resulting customer satisfaction. | ||||||||
