New website for Department of Information
The Department of Information has launched a new website at www.doi.gov.mt. The information contained in the previous website has been restructured, rendered more user-friendly and transferred to the new site. Information relating to current activities such as Press Releases, Public Tenders, Employment Opportunities, Scholarships and local Press Commentaries is already online on the new site, while the respective archives are still under construction.

Other items which are already online include updated information about Ministries, Departments and their agencies together with their respective board of directors, General Election results (1996 & 1998), Local Council Election results (2000 & 2001), and other information about Malta and its administration.

New visual features have also been introduced, such as the publication of DOI photos released to the media, as well as a Photo Gallery featuring official functions, important events and national heritage.

Another novel feature is the search engine. Although not yet fully operational, it already provides a powerful means to search effectively for specific keywords in literally hundreds of documents in the DOI archives. An important feature that is being gradually phased in, is the use of proper Maltese language characters based on the Unicode standard. Enhancements on the website will continue during the coming months.
