J.B. Plastics crowned METCO Manufacturing Exporter of the Year

J.B. Plastics Limited, a fully Maltese owned company has been presented with the METCO Exporter of the Year – Manufacturing Award for 2000. This is a prestigious award that "acknowledges the export marketing and export sales achievements of producers of manufactured goods."

This award, presented annually to one company, was made possible through the continued support of all of its clients, both local and foreign. J.B. Plastics is committed not only to supply good quality products, but also to provide their clients with a good and efficient service. This has enabled J.B. Plastics to shift from a local market oriented company (97 per cent local in 1995), to a mainly export oriented one (now around 60 per cent of its production), over a span of five years.

J.B. Plastics produces, both for the local and export market, domestic and telephone cable to British Standard, conduits, mini trunking, water and drainage pipes in different sizes apart from a wide range of electrical fittings to compliment the 20mm and 25mm diameter conduit. Items produced by the Company for the local market also include high frequency welded stationery items, plastic disposable cutlery items and printed or plain polythene bags made to customers’ specifications. The Company also produces injection moulded items, on a sub-contracting basis, for a number of other exporting companies operating in Malta.

J.B. Plastics Ltd was incorporated in 1977 and carries out its operations at the Bulebel Industrial Estate. Together with its sister company Elepac Ltd, the Company now occupies a total production area of approximately 9000sq metres. Elepac produces injection moulded packaging material exclusively for the electronic industry.

Both companies are run by Joint Managing Directors Anton and Joseph Borg.
