Four-phase hospitality and leisure project to be completed by May 2002 Mekanika Ltd, the engineering arm of the Gasan Group, has just been awarded a tender contract of Lm3.7 million for works on the entertainment and hospitality project being constructed by the Eden Leisure Group in St George's Bay. Mekanika will be responsible for carrying out all the mechanical and electrical engineering services on the project, including plumbing and electrical installations, air conditioning, building management systems, fire detection and firefighting. Mekanika is no newcomer to major projects, and this project is one of the largest of its kind the Company has handled so far. The entire project will be carried out in four phases with the completion of the entire project targeted for May 2002. The first three phases are expected to be completed within three months. The Car Park and the Ice Rink will compliment the already existing Eden leisure facilities in St George's Bay. These will be followed by the rebuilding of the new Cynergy Fitness Centre. The final phase will be the Intercontinental Hotel, which will comprise 453 rooms in addition to timeshare apartments. The contract for the mechanical and electrical engineering works was
signed by Mr Ian Decesare, Chairman of the Eden Leisure Group, and Mr
Joe Gasan, Chairman of the Gasan Group, in the presence of executives
from both Groups. Both sides expressed their satisfaction at working
together on such an important project which, when completed, will significantly
enhance the entertainment and hospitality facilities available to Maltese
and visitors alike in St Julian's. |
