Abdilla Mrs Cynthia Elgasi who is not new to the business community will manage the store as she had already managed both Money Savers shops at Msida and Paceville. The store, leased by Savemart Co Ltd to MA Supermarkets Ltd, according to sources, underwent a particularly rough patch under the previous management and had its doors closed for business. MA Supermarkets, under the management of Michael Debono and his sons, had allegedly mismanaged their affairs and had to close down due to pressure from their creditors. Some of the previous workers of Savemart will re-join the Supermarket chain, though most of them will not re-join as they had found other jobs mainly in other supermarkets such as Smart and Tower. Speaking to The Malta Financial and Business Times, Mrs Elgasi said that she is working as hard as she could for the store to open. She said that agents are already sending her orders and she is looking
forward to a very good relationship with food related agencies. |
