A staggering 7,000 pirate CDs were confiscated over the weekend by police, according to Grace Pace, director of Visual and Sound Communications Ltd, operators of the Exotique chain. Ms Borg, who has long campaigned tirelessly for a clampdown on piracy, was speaking at the launch of a new CD Sounds like a new Europe, which took place yesterday at The Crowne Plaza Hotel. While congratulating the police, Ms Pace said that more still needed to be done at the courts and questioned why licences of those caught selling pirate CDs is not revoked. Sounds like a new Europe is a double CD compilation featuring two original songs from each of the 13 countries that are currently applicants for EU membership, along with tracks from Belgium. Maltas two-song contribution on the CD is Qabel titlaq and Sellili by Claudette Pace. Some other bands featured are IIgi from Latvia, Fanis Andreas from Cyprus and Sidharta from Slovenia. |
