The Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association recently organised an in-house talk for its members on the EURO and Tourism. This activity was the first of a series of short information sessions that the Association intends organising for its members on EU affairs. At this talk Fabio Pirotta, Research Officer from the Malta-EU Information Centre gave an overview of the EURO and its importance within the European Union. Another presentation was made by Alexander Borg and Clive Bartolo from the External Relations Office of the Central Bank of Malta and by Antonio Ghirlando, Acting Secretary General from the Malta Bankers Association. These speakers gave a technical presentation of the subject and also provided all present with detailed information with respect to all the security features of this new currency with special emphasis on issues of interest to hoteliers and restaurateurs. This talk was well received by all present and MHRA members suggested that similar focused information talks on particular EU related subjects would be most welcomed. The venue for this event was the Hilton Malta that was offered to the MHRA on a complimentary basis.
