Chartered Institute of Bankers rebrands itself
as Institute of Financial Services
In his first public address as the newly appointed President of
the Institute of Financial Services Malta, Charles Borg outlined the
strategy that the Institute has embarked on in response to the profound
changes that the Maltese financial services sector and the world is
going through.
In the wake of these changes, the Chartered Institute of Bankers Malta
felt the need to embark on a new strategy and to rebrand itself as the
Institute of Financial Services (IFS) Malta.
Mr Borg emphasised that the new brand bears evidence to the Institutes
objective of offering qualifications that go beyond the narrow confines
of banking. This is also consonant with the Institutes mission
statement to be the leading provider of education to the financial
services industry.
The name itself - Institute of Financial Services - suggests that the
Institute will not be focusing solely on the banking sector but on a
wider spectrum. "Banking Groups have become Financial Services
Groups and we have to ensure that the Institute offers educational solutions
covering the whole financial services industry," remarked Mr Borg
in his address.
In embarking on its new strategy, the Institute of Financial Services
Malta will be using the consultancy services of the IFS based in the
UK. Mr Borg explained that this alliance will enable to local financial
services sector to benefit from educational solutions that have been
highly successful in the top financial services centres worldwide. On
behalf of the local Institute, Mr Borg also thanked Brian Role (IFS
UK) for his support and presence at the dinner.
Mr Borg believes that these changes would enable the IFS Malta to provide
educational solutions that will provide the employers in the sector
with the competitive advantage and the employees with a higher degree
of marketability.
