Thomson awards for Sliema Hotel

The Thomson Holidays Gold Award in both the ‘best summer sun’ and ‘best winter sun’ 4T categories has gone to The Waterfront Hotel in Sliema.

Thomson Holidays, the leading UK tour operator, chooses the recipients of its awards on the basis of a sampling process through hotel guests, who are asked an exhaustive series of questions on comfort, standards, catering, quality of service, and rooms. The Waterfront scored the highest number of votes from Thomson’s guests, among Malta hotels, for winter 2001 and summer 2001. Hotel managing director Brian Mizzi said: "This is wonderful news. The Waterfront came close to the top score within the entire Thomson programme worldwide. We opened in May last year, and this happened during our very first full season of operation. That’s unusual – not many hotels achieve this standard in their first year."

This past summer, The Waterfront also won Thomson’s gold award for safety initiatives.
