The management at Portanier Brothers has accepted to retain at least 12 clerical and technical workers on a temporary basis until the companys books are closed. The arrangement was reached after a meeting held yesterday between the General Workers Union and the management following the closure of the company after 7UPs transfer to Farsons portfolio. The union said that the management has also offered the technical staff to work on a company project in Libya. During the meeting it was agreed that the collective agreement would remain in force until the last employees job is terminated. Portanier Brothers are expected to pass on their share to the unions Welfare Fund, the amount will then be distributed among the members of the fund. |
