Working parents to get child day care centre at Bulebel

Employees at the Bulebel industrial estate will shortly have the opportunity to avail themselves of the services of a child day care centre, which will cater for children ranging from new borns to four years old.

The centre, which is expected to open on 4 February is the initiative of BIETA (Bulebel Industrial Estate Tenants Association), along with the full support of the Malta Development Corporation.

BIETA was formed in 1998 with the objective to work closely with the MDC in improving conditions for all tenants working on the estate. A separate building at Bulebel has been converted and newly furnished to cater for children, along with all the necessary facilities.

The management of the centre has been entrusted to Mickey's, under the guidance of Lucianne Zammit, who has extensive experience having already set up her first child day care centre in Hamrun.

Andy Gatesy, Chairman of BIETA stated that, "with society changing and more and more mothers wishing to go back to work, we have addressed the needs of employees at Bulebel by providing them with a suitable site close to their place of work".

The spacious facilities will provide an extremely safe and stimulating environment where children learn through playing. The normal opening hours of the centre will be from 6.30am to 5.00pm and could be extended by popular demand to cover shift workers.

The fee, will be based upon a flexible pay’per’use system. An open day will be held on Saturday, 26 January, between 9.00am and 3.00pm.

Since BIETA’s inception, several initiatives have been completed. From August 2001, a full time park manager was employed to co-ordinate all activities and improvements on the estate.
