Bay StreetOperators’ Association set up

The Bay Street Tourist Complex recently set up an association, which together with the Bay Street management team, will be responsible for giving recommendations on the implementation of new strategic and marketing plan for the Complex.

The Committee of the Operators’ Association - composed of representatives from the operators of the Artisan Market, retail, leisure, food and beverage outlets and the hotel - will act as an intermediary body on behalf of the various other operators involved in the Complex.

The new Operators’ Association was appointed during the Bay Street Tourist Complex’s recent annual general meeting held at the Complex’s conference hall. During the AGM Bay Street’s management also presented a draft copy of the statute for the Association, which seeks to identify the role and functions of the Association, as well as the various responsibilities of the management and the operators.

The AGM was addressed by the outgoing chairman of the Operators’ Association interim committee, Mario Balzan Demajo, who said that throughout the past months the interim committee has worked very closely with the management to formulate an effective business and marketing plan for the Complex. Mr Balzan Demajo added, "The proposed plan is intended to ensure that the shareholders and operators of the Complex get an adequate return on their investment, while the 350 employees at the Complex are properly motivated and satisfied at their place of work."

The meeting was also addressed by Bay Street’s Project Manager, Silvio De Bono, who pointed out that, following a customer perception survey carried out by an independent research organisation, Bay Street was voted as the most popular retail and leisure destination in Malta. James Davis, Bay Street’s General Manager, also gave a detailed overview of the Complex’s marketing plan, which will see Bay Street getting more exposure in the market, as well as hosting one of the most innovative and varied calendar of events for 2002.
