Air Malta is now enjoying the benefits of Oracle Financials, a world class enterprise resource planning system, following a successful implementation led by Mercator. Mercator, in partnership with Malta-based IT solutions provider Megabyte, supplied Air Malta with the consulting services essential to achieving the roll-out of this industry-leading system, which will serve as the cornerstone of its future success. Oracle Financials offers general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, cash management, purchasing and inventory modules. Benefits include standardised and streamlined procedures, and greater productivity and cost-efficiency. The system is now in operation at the airlines Luqa, Malta HQ, as well at its London outstation. Subsequently Air Malta plans to roll it out at its other outstations overseas. Joe Cappello, Air Maltas Group General Manager, said: "This is an exciting and vitally important project for us. Oracle Financials will revolutionise our back-end financial accounting and management information systems. This project had the tightest timeframes and even tighter budgets, but through the dedication and professionalism of all members of our team, Air Malta now has world-class financial information systems." Air Malta serves 34 cities in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and carried more than 1.6 million people last year. As well as Air Malta, customers for Mercator products and services include: Air Algérie, Air New Zealand, Air Pacific, Air Tahiti Nui, Air Zimbabwe, British Airways, Emirates, Kenya Airways, Olympic Airways, Qantas, Philippine Airlines, Royal Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Brunei, Singapore Airlines, SriLankan Airlines, TACA and Varig.
