The Nationalist Party has repealed its applications for the cancellation of votes on grounds of mental infirmity. PN Secretary-General Joe Saliba said in a statement that the PN was concerned it had worried a number of elderly people and resorted to repeal all applications in the light of these circumstances. Mr Saliba also called onto the Malta Labour Party to revoke all applications filed in its name. "In that way, the people will know whether the Labour Party believes in it what says or if it is a hypocrite trying to produce propaganda on which it has equal blame." In a subsequent statement, Saliba criticised the Labour Party for not accepting to repeal its applications, saying the MLP was not able to act with honour and act consistently. Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson, Dr Harry Vassallo welcomed the withdrawal of the objections. "It was a very serious mistake and we should all be glad that the PN did not persist in its error. It would be equally heartening to hear that the MLP will be withdrawing its own similar objections. "Alternattiva Demokratika has never filed a single objection to anybody's right to vote in its 14-year history. The practice of the PN and MLP of eliminating each other's voters must stop. "It is now the turn of the MLP to make a move in favour of democracy starting with the outrageous attempt to remove Arnold Cassola's right to vote."
