   | President visits TechnoPark
Marking Workers Day tomorrow, President Guido de
Marco yesterday paid an official visit to the Mosta TechnoPark, where
he was given a tour of the facilities by Mosta TechnoPark Tenants Association
Chairman Henry Borg. The President visited Hetronic Malta Ltd and FAL
Malta Ltd., and met with their respective employees at shop level. In addressing the members of the press, President Guido de Marco said
that the Mosta TechnoPark, which will soon be exceeding a workforce
of 750, is a "success story" joining together entrepreneurs
possessing a dream in industry and motivated workers who actively participate
in the process, with a common goal to achieve.
Whilst referring to the country's new challenges, and with particular
reference to its workers, the President said that, in a diversity of
opinions, which is the main element of democracy, the Maltese people
have decided on their future. Prof de Marco said that Malta has to look
beyond the European market and also concentrate on its southern neighbours.
"The Mediterranean and North Africa present important and ever-growing
market potentials and Malta could be a pace-setter in further developing
its participation in these sectors too."
"We are second to none as to our working capabilities are involved,"
underlined the President. "Whilst meeting these several new challenges,
          we
Maltese have the capability of learning and developing working skills
with a fast pace thus putting us at an added level when it comes to
competing with others." He also spoke about the technological development
in Malta and the capability of ensuring a leading role in the region.
"Over the years, we have succeeded in developing a sense of mutual
respect to different opinions and our main asset has always been that
of learning from one other. The First of May is no longer a social struggle
of classes but an important national celebration where all the country
is pulling the same rope to ensure a common successful future,"
          concluded The President.
Prof. Guido de Marco's official visit to the Mosta TechnoPark came to
an end with a meeting with the Chairman and Board of Directors of the
MTTA during which he was presented with a donation of Lm500 in aid of
          the Malta Community Chest Fund.
