It is now available; the Oracle(r) Security Developer Tools, a key component of Oracle's Federated Identity Management Framework was officially launched recently.
The comprehensive framework consists of products and tools that are easy to use and support multiple, industry standard protocols such as Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) and Liberty, allowing customers to quickly and easily leverage the benefits of federated identity management.
The Oracle Security Developer Tools are a set of integrated tools used to federation-enable applications built and deployed on Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2. The tools allow organizations to securely share access to critical business data, execute transactions and streamline business processes with their customers and partners. They result in reduced management costs; more efficient business processes; and better employee and customer service. Applications built with federation capabilities can be used as a competitive differentiator, particularly for enterprises serving the financial services, manufacturing and public sector markets where federation has been aggressively adopted. Oracle's vision for a complete federated identity framework is multi-faceted and includes a multi-protocol federated identity management server; a federation-enabled application server; comprehensive tools for application developers, and out-of-the-box federation-enabled enterprise portal and business applications.
"Organizations are seeking the means to quickly and easily federate their applications to provide secure access to their critical business data with partners and customers," said Oracle Vice President, Identity Management and Security Products, Hasan Rizvi. "Oracle's Federated Identity Framework provides customers with a roadmap and set of technologies needed to exploit the benefits of federation technology for their existing applications today, and for new service-oriented applications they develop in the future."
Based on industry standards such as OASIS SAML and the Liberty Alliance Project, Oracle Security Developer Tools let organizations grant partners and customers access to their internal applications while maintaining high levels of security. The tools are a key component of Oracle Identity Management, permitting organizations to provide access to critical business information to users from both within and outside the organization with fewer passwords and user credentials. For example, with federated access to a supplier's order management application, a customer sales representative for a retail company can tap into the supplier's network and provide a consumer with an update on order status.
