The International Safety Training Centre of Hal Far (ISTC) has just been chosen to be the official representatives for the European Fire Service Colleges’ Association on the EU Leonardo Da Vinci Project “Address”.
David Ghersci, Managing Director for ISTC, said that they were appointed to this important EU representation as a direct result of the company’s international growth which led to their being officially awarded full membership status earlier in June at Arnhem, Netherlands.
In fact, over the past 6 years ISTC has gained valuable experience and knowledge in managing diversity of its fire and safety trainees who originate from widely differing cultural backgrounds. He explained that following membership, at this year’s EFSCA annual general meeting held at Revinge, Sweden, on 19th and 20th June, 2006 - and in recognition of the wide international orientation and of the valuable contribution which ISTC has been making - it was unanimously agreed that ISTC be appointed to represent EFSCA on “Address”.
Ghersci said that the aims of the ADDRESS (Achieving and Delivering Diversity Results within the Emergency Services Sector) project are to design, develop and implement interventions to promote diversity within the emergency services sector across Europe through programmes which will be specifically designed to enable trainers to deliver training interventions for operational and managerial staff. |
