Malta has added its voice to the Supervisory Board of the EU Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC) with the nomination of Mr Colin Tabone as Malta’s representative on the Board. Mr Colin Tabone was appointed by Malta’s Ambassador to Beijing, HE Karl Xuereb.
Commenting on the appointment the ambassador stated: “I am sure that with his wealth of international business experience and knowledge of China, Mr Tabone will be an asset not only to the EUCCC but also to those Maltese businesses with interests in China. I am sure that he will make a significant contribution in this role and I look forward to working with Mr. Tabone and our constituted bodies in this respect.”
At a lunch hosted at the Residence in Beijing by Ambassador and Mrs Daniela Xuereb in honour of Mr Tabone’s appointment, Mr Tabone was introduced to the Secretary General of the EU Chamber of Commerce in China, Mr Giorgio Magistrelli as well as to Mr Fabrice Lorillion, General Representative of AXA General Representative Office in China and fellow member of the EU Chamber’s Supervisory Board. Also present at the lunch were other members of the Maltese Community in Beijing.
The EU Chamber of Commerce in China promotes European business interests in China, serves as the Voice of European business interests and provides an ever expanding business forum. To date the EU Chamber of Commerce has 1,090 members ranging from global companies to SMEs. The Chamber has 29 Working Groups which meet regularly to discuss business issues of separate industries and issues an annual position paper on China which is then presented to Chinese and European Governments. The EU Chamber is managed by a National Executive Committee made up of representatives from various European Member States whilst the Supervisory Board and Advisory Council report to the National Executive Committee and provide strategic input to it. There are also local Boards of the Chamber which report directly to the National Executive Committee.
The EU Chamber of Commerce in China was set up on 19th October 2000 and is a non-profit, membership fee-based organization with offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Chengdu Tianjin and Shenyang. |
