Uniblue’s Local Cooling features on BBC

Matthew Vella

Uniblue’s free download for optimising a PC’s power savings has been featured on BBC News24’s flagship technology programme Click.
Local Cooling was featured on Kate Russell’s Webscape section of the popular show, where she gives viewers her latest selection of the best sites on the web. In the segment on Local Cooling she says: “With global warming and the consequences of excessive power consumption on everyone’s minds, Localcooling.com offers a path to greener computing, and a reduction in your electricity bills too”.
LocalCooling is a free application that optimises the power consumption of a computer. Just click to download and then follow the on-screen prompts to install and set up.
From the simple user-interface, default power settings can be changed to use the least possible energy in different situations. This same optimisation can work through the Windows control panel, but Local Cooling has a more user-friendly interface, and a nice touch is that it displays in real-time the amount of energy saved in kilowatts-per-hour and the equivalent amount of trees and oil.
You can even upload your power saving data and compete with other users in the Top 100 League Tables of the biggest savers worldwide.
Local Cooling is now due to be featured on the World Business Review on CNBC in March, and on Skynet, American Airlines’ in-flight radio program.
