SIS Ltd launches Innovative Telecommunications Services

SIS Ltd, based at Manoel Island, officially launched its innovative telecommunications services on July 6th during a presentation held at the Polverista, Fort Manoel, which is part of the extensive restoration project in progress at Manoel Island.
Together with the residential, business and retail development at Tigné Point which is now moving at a rapid pace, SIS will provide a comprehensive range of technology based services backed by a genuinely personalised 24/7 service designed to afford a better lifestyle for both residential and business users.
SIS Limited, is a joint venture in Malta between Siemens and Midi plc, set up to provide the operation and maintenance of systems at Tigné Point and Manoel Island. These services include building technologies such as convenient Access Control Systems, environment-friendly and energy-efficient Climate Control systems and Smart-Card services aimed at providing higher standards of comfort to the residents, businesses and customers using Tigné Point retail and entertainment establishments.
In addition, SIS is a fully licensed telephony and internet service provider, and offers fully digital IP telephony and data services under the brand name SISCOM.
SIS is able to bring next-generation telephony services to the market by means of its fully digital IP-based telephone exchange or ‘soft-switch’ provided by Siemens, a global leader in telecommunications equipment, and a fully developed fibre-optic network throughout Tigné Point and Manoel Island, enabling data transmissions of up to 100Mbit/s.
SIS is the first telecom provider in Malta to offer a virtual PBX service – IP Centrex – to its business telephony customers. SIS Centrex provides a flexible, cost-effective and hassle-free PBX-like service, without the need for any switching equipment on the customer premise since the service is supplied and managed directly from SIS’s exchange site, with lines being delivered to the premises over fibre optic.
Business organisations can now make use of this technology in order to cut travelling expenses and improve productivity, both inside the precincts of Tigné Point and Manoel Island, and beyond.
Other services include voicemail to e-mail and fax to e-mail conversion services for a more organised workplace, video telephony and SMS service, as well as portability of telephone sets to multiple locations, and the possibility of making free phone calls from overseas to the office using the SIS Centrex Service.
SIS also launched their website www.sis.com.mt
