German business delegation visits Malta

The Executive Board of the Chamber of Commerce of the region of Halle-Dessau in Germany was introduced to various aspects of Malta as a tourism and investment location during a visit to the island between the 12th and 16th of May.
The visit of the delegation, which was led by Mr Detlef Bischoff, Malta’s Honorary Consul in the States of Saxony-Anhalt and neighbouring Saxony, and Vice-President of the Executive Board, was organised by Malta Enterprise in conjunction with the Embassy of Malta in Berlin and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Besides visiting Malta’s foremost tourist attractions, the members of the Halle-Dessau Chamber of Commerce held meetings with representatives of Malta Enterprise, the Malta Chamber of Commerce as well as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Tonio Borg.
Visits to Playmobil Malta and the Malta Freeport were also included in their programme in order to provide testimonials of successful business endeavours as well as the potential Malta holds as a hub for investment in the Mediterranean.
The Vision 2015 conceived by the Government of Malta was outlined with particular emphasis on the wish for further development of renewable energy sources for Malta, in which undertaking Germany could become a strong partner due to its leadership in the field.
Throughout the visit the delegation was accompanied by a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who was available to answer questions and further expand on themes touched upon during the meetings and visits held.
