A huge success for go mobile's better value offer Thousands of people have signed up to the new go mobile service since the Maltacom wholly owned subsidiary opened its retail offices in Marsa, Msida, Valletta and Victoria, Gozo. on Tuesday this week. "We have been flooded by requests. Thousands of people have been visiting our shops." said Prof. Juanito Carnilleri, Chief Executive Officer at go mobile. "Our offer to introduce hugely reduced tariffs and better value all round has been a success. People have reacted in the way we knew they would. They want, and deserve, a service with better value for money. Everyone at go mobile is very pleased." go mobile comes on stream on 1 December when Prime Minister Dr. Eddie Fenech Adami makes the first call from the go mobile service. The success at the shops is a reflection of the fact that people have been ready for choice in the mobile services market in Malta even though liberalising telecommunications has not been without its problems. Particularly for go mobile, which has had to face a mix of real and mythical problems. For example, Vodafone may insist to charge people making Vodafone to Vodafone calls a different charge from those making a Vodafone to go mobile call. This would of course distort the market particularly at a time when the new entrant is still striving to establish a significant customer base. go mobile believes that all types of termination charges are out of step with the country's spirit of operating in an open market. go mobile has asked the competent authorities to intervene in this regard. | ||||||||
