Windsor Co. completes furnishing first phase for Corinthia’s Prague hotel

Windsor Co. Ltd. recently finalised the furnishing of the first phase of the contract it was awarded earlier this year for the Corinthia Towers Hotel in Prague – consisting of the manufacture and supply of Winrest orthopaedic mattresses, beds, lined curtains and fitted bedspreads for all the sixteen floors of the hotel. The contract is split in three phases with the second phase to be completed by December 2002 and the third phase in 2003. All the floors of Corinthia Towers Hotel Prague would have been refurbished by 2003.

The contract was a breakthrough for Windsor Co. Ltd. although the company has been furnishing various hotels in Malta for a long time. It is the first time that it succeeded to acquire this kind of prestigious contract in a foreign country.

Anthony Galea, Managing Director of Windsor Co. Ltd., explained that they competed for this contract with foreign companies and succeeded to beat all on quality as well as price. However, he insists that most of this merit goes to the Corinthia Group, who were also keen to see local manufacture expand overseas and assisted Windsor in order to obtain such an important contract.

"The awarding of this contract proves that Maltese companies can support each other and that we are able to manufacture to the required standards" added Mr. Galea. “Furthermore, the directors and staff of Windsor Co. Ltd. show their appreciation that the Corinthia Group is supporting local industry and as such are contributing in no small way towards the Maltese economy."

Now that the Windsor Company has achieved this international breakthrough, it is looking towards the future with optimism and is certain that it will succeed to achieve more similar contracts. In fact, the company has now initiated an expansion plan which had been temporarily shelved for the last two years and the construction of an extension to its existing factory in Mriehel is now in full swing too, said Mr Galea.

More workers have been employed and more sophisticated machinery has also been ordered to increase its production and efficiency, thus making the company more competitive in the global market.
