MIDI notifies public of road closure at Tigne’

As from tomorrow, the road between Tigne’ Sea Front (from Fortina Hotel) to Qui-si-Sana Road (up to Crowne Plaza Hotel) will be closed to both pedestrians and vehicles.

A statement by MIDI plc said that the first phase of the Tigne’ Point Development Project is now well underway. Excavation works for the construction of an underground relief road will commence at the beginning of May 2002. Concurrently, trenching works will get underway in respect of the diversion of the 11KVA power supply passing through Tigne’ Points. This will immediately be followed by excavation works on the site where the first apartment blocks, part of the Tigne’ South development, will be constructed commencing this July.

The Lm140 million mega-project by MIDI plc, a Maltese business consortium, aims to create a new and complete urban centre of the highest standard with a unique Maltese dimension at Tigne’ Point. The development, which is Malta’s largest privately funded project, will up-market the island with residential and commercial areas, a yacht marina and the rehabilitation of historical buildings such as Fort Tigne’ and Fort Manoel.

MIDI reminded that the Tigne’ Point area is a construction site and therefore, it is in the public’s interest, that access to Tigne’ Point is strictly limited to construction personnel only.

MIDI plc plans to open the location for public access once the work is completed. At the same time MIDI regrets any inconvenience caused.
