Shops to be given easy late-night shopping option As from next month, shop owners will have the chance to open their outlets up until 10pm, provided they apply for the necessary licence. The move forms part of the new trading licence regulations which are currently coming into force. As of the end of April, shop owners will be able to open their shops
up to 10pm on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays as long as they notify
the Trading Licences Unit. They will be given an application form which
must be submitted. Once this application form is returned to the shop
owner, his only obligation is to display it in the shop entrance. With present day regulations, all shop owners that want to open their shops up till 10pm on specific days have to apply for permission from the industrial and employment relations department. This was required each time that the shop owner wanted to provide late night shopping from But this notification procedure will make applying easier and also help the police to know which establishments have advised the TLU that they will be open for late night shopping.
