Super yacht Indian Empress is currently in Malta for the fifth time undergoing extensive refit works.
“The level of service offered by Melita Marine Group, operators of the Manoel Island Marina, has secured commitment from prestigious clients and captains of boats, from average-sized to super yachts, to make regular stops at the Manoel Island Marina for all-round services,” said Pierre Balzan, Chairman of Melita Marine Group.
“This is the result of long personal and professional relationships we have nurtured with the industry which do not only create business for Melita Marine Group but also to the rest of the Maltese economy, considering that yachts carry, depending on their size, from two to over 50 well-paid crew members. Visiting yachts leave a considerable contribution to different sectors of the Maltese economy, from shipyards, to carpenters and lifestyle outlets, like bars, restaurants etc. Some crew clients have also purchased property in Malta, either as an investment or to settle in at a later date.”
According to Melita Marine’s market intelligence department, it is estimated that in 2009, the total number of superyachts over 30m worldwide that will be reaching the five-year cycle for refit will reach around 280 yachts. Maintenance is a must on any yacht and every area must be maintained to the highest level.
The Indian Empress is expected to be in Malta for a few more months to be totally repainted by Melita Yacht Painters and for other refits of some interior areas, servicing of the engine room equipment and generator, and teak and marble works. While works of a light nature are carried out at the marina, other works, like the painting job, are carried out at the shipyards.
Melita Marine Group has been promoting its services in the international yachting industry for the past 15 years, attracting news and repeat business to Malta. “In all these years we have become renowned in the international yachting industry for the level of workmanship we deliver. Without a doubt prices competitiveness is a factor, combined with quality and delivery on time. We also provide a warranty on works we carry out worldwide,” said Mr Balzan.
