Salvo Grima (Freeport Operations) Ltd. appointed Logistics Partner for JAG flocomponents

JAG flocomponents announces the establishment of its third major valve distribution facility, located in Malta, a major maritime transshipment logistic centre in the Mediterranean region. This facility will serve valve customers in the oil and gas sectors in Europe, Central Asia and Africa. Salvo Grima (Freeport Operations) Ltd. is the Maltese logistics partner for this operation. The Salvo Grima Group, founded in the mid-nineteenth century as a ship supplies company, is one of the longest-established organizations in the Maltese Islands, with maritime, commercial and international ties.
Denis Taschuk, President of JAG flocomponents states that, “JAG is excited about setting up this operation in Malta because it is strategically located in the center of the Mediterranean Sea, near major shipping lanes. Malta is approximately 90 kilometers from Italy and 300 kilometers from North Africa. With excellent port facilities, solid infrastructure, an educated work force, a favourable tax regime and EU membership, Malta represents a location that is ideal for servicing our customers in Europe and North Africa”. As a member of the European Union, frequent ro/ro (roll-on/roll-off vessel) and ferry boat services connect Malta to Sicily and Italy for trucking services to the continent. Malta Freeport is an international transshipment hub, linked by regular liner services to practically all parts of the globe. An established feeder network connects Malta Freeport to 60 ports in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea and there are daily flights to major European cities with connecting hubs to the rest of the globe.
A spokesman for Salvo Grima Group, attributed Malta’s status as an EU member country, as well as its strategic location on the southernmost boundary of the EU, bridging Europe to North Africa, as a determining factor in winning this important business over. Another key factor, he said, was Malta’s achievements over the past decade, in earning prestigious international credentials as a centre of excellence for Financial Services. The modern warehousing facilities within the Malta Freeport and the efficient logistical services provided by Salvo Grima (Freeport Operations) Ltd, where instrumental in winning the bid and securing the JAG business for Malta.
JAG flocomponents’ headquarters and first distribution center in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada was established in 2001. Its USA distribution centre, located in Houston, Texas, was opened in 2006 to support the oil & gas midstream, upstream and production markets. Inventoried product includes ¼-36 inch ASME Class 150-2500# trunnion and floating ball valves, 2”-24” check valves in all pressure classes and end configurations, thru-conduit gates, pigging, and mud valves.
