The Enterprise Europe Network - Malta in collaboration with Malta Enterprise organised an FP7 and CIP Networking Day on 30 April 2009. The event gathered together the relevant EU funding stakeholders in Malta with foreign companies interested in participating in such programmes. The major national stakeholders participating in this event include the Enterprise Europe Network - Malta, the Malta Enterprise Business Advisors on EU Funding and the Maltese National Contact Points on FP7 and CIP.
The Italian companies that attended were Melius srl and EU CORE. Melius works in the field of educational and vocational guidance and of lifelong learning. EU CORE provides project identification, design, management, accounting, evaluation and partnership services to higher education institutions and SMEs in Italy and abroad. Valoa design is a Finnish company and is one of the biggest and well known lighting design companies and has a good cooperation within the industry. Valoa design is currently looking for a Maltese company to partner up in one of its projects. The project’s main objectives are: improving energy efficiency in public lighting systems; enhancement of cultural heritage and landscape; and reduction of lighting pollution
Non Standard Logics Europe Ltd, the University of Bristol, and Friendly Technologies Ltd. are based in the United Kingdom. NSLE Ltd. is an SME incorporated in Scotland in 2002. It sells consultancy services for verification and validation (V&V) of complex microelectronics-based systems, using the most advanced V&V techniques, tools and methodologies. NSLE Partners in Research and Development Projects include: Hitex (Itex GmbH); FZI (Forschungszentrum Informatik); Wind (Wind SPA); University of Karlsruhe (Institut fuer Angewandte Mathematik); and Brokat (Brokat Infosystems AG). The Department of Computer Science, within the University of Bristol, has recently been ranked 8th in the UK Research Assessment Exercise, acknowledging the internationally leading research conducted within the department. The department has strong links with the cluster of Computer, Communications, Microelectronics and Media industries in the Bristol region. Friendly Technologies Ltd.’s vision is to create the building blocks for a socially-acceptable, environmentally-friendly and profitable Internet of Things. Friendly Technologies is looking for partners to participate in a number of projects, including FP7.
Initial contact between foreign and local companies was established. Consequentially, Maltese companies that attended this event and exploited this unique opportunity are currently in the process of furthering their discussions to form eventual partnerships.
