Air Malta to dump fuel surcharge

Air Malta is set to remove the fuel surcharge as from next November, with senior company sources explaining that the decision has nothing to do with plummeting prices of oil on the international market, but the fact that quoted fares on an airline ticket include “all charges”.
Booking online on the Air Malta website these days would include a €50 fuel surcharge over the security, air passenger duty in the UK, airport security charge, international passenger service charge and taxes.
A return or departure after 1 November already includes all taxes and charges, with the exception of an increase by €1.12 in UK’s passenger tax to €12.41.
According to Air Malta, the fuel surcharge portion of its online booking is a “hang-over” from the past and will be deleted in November.
