ICON gears up to go global

Having already surged towards its goal of increasing its involvement in international projects, forward-thinking local web firm ICON recently attended a conference on gearing up for internationalisation, organised by the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry.
Aimed at those involved in the services, retail and manufacturing sectors, the conference, which was held at the Chamber, focused on: Understanding how the Malta Chamber is using resources available to it to assist members in internationalising their operations; Understanding how other national agencies and institutions help the business community directly or through the Malta Chamber and identifying and proposing initiatives or concerns to maximise the internationalisation potential of the Maltese business community.
“The local market provides some fantastic opportunities in the IT sector and we’ve seen this segment expand and mature over the past five to ten years. However, internationalisation is core to our medium to long-term strategy. It not only allows us to grow our business, but it also provides us with expertise which we can return to the local market.” ICON director Ian Castillo said, while adding that the MCCEI provides a highly valuable service to its members through these conferences as well as other initiatives.
