Maltese company in alliance partnership agreement with Austrian environment agency

Navan Scientific Ltd has signed an agreement with the Environment Agency Austria (Umweltbundesamt GmbH) to provide specialist environmental consultancy, training and testing services in Malta and in markets in the Euro-Med region.
During the signing, which took place in Austria, Mag. Georg Rebernig, Managing Director of the Environment Agency remarked that “this agreement is a first of its kind for the Umweltbundesamt and reflects the Agency’s interest in extending its expertise and services to markets overseas. We are very pleased to be in partnership with Navan Scientific who we know to be a serious business player in the Maltese market.”
Josef N. Grech, Executive Director of Navan Scientific Ltd echoed Mag. Rebernig’s sentiments and stated that such an agreement is in line with the company’s philosophy to seek specialist expertise of high value brand agencies such as the Umweltbundesamt and import such knowledge to Malta and neighbouring markets. Malta provides a unique platform towards which knowledge management can be attracted and relayed to other markets in the Euro-med region.
The Environment Agency Austria (Umweltbundesamt GmbH) is the expert authority of the federal government in Austria for environmental protection and environmental control. Within the scope of environmental control, the EAA records, analyses and evaluates data on the state and development of the environment in all areas.
The chemical-analytical laboratories of the EAA perform sampling, and trace analysis in all environmental media. Testing of various organic and inorganic pollutants, such as for pesticides, polyaromatic hydrocarbons, volatile organic compounds, hormones, pharmaceuticals, dioxins, heavy metals and metal species is part of the analytical scope. Monitoring programmes cover media like water, soil, waste, sludge, compost, manure, air, PM10, products and biota. Analyses of selected pollutants are also carried out in animal feed and food samples. The EAA also runs a molecular biological laboratory and a fuel laboratory established to undertake quality testing of liquid fuels including gasoline, diesel and also bio fuels for compliance with the FQMS Directive (Fuel Quality Monitoring System). The laboratories were officially nominated by the competent authority as the National Reference Laboratory according to Regulation (EC) No. 882/2004 for dioxins and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in live animals and animal products, in feed and food. All laboratories of the EAA are accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 which is the international standard for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.
Navan Scientific Ltd is a management and technical consultancy company consisting of five business line brands namely Navan Consultancy (providing management and technical consultancy, environmental sampling and testing), Navan Training (professional and human resource development, specialised training programmes), Navan Events (organisation and logistics management of business meetings, conferences and events), Navan Media (Digital media, audiovisual presentations, publications) and Navan Niche Travel (specialised educational and cultural specialist travel).
