VAT lottery reaches stability point

The Public Lotto Department receives around 1,500kg of fiscal
receipts every month to participate in the VAT receipts lottery and
the amount has stabilised indicating that it is probably the same people
who continue to send in their receipts month after month
Globe/British American merger still subject
to due diligence

Globe Financial Management yesterday clarified the position of
its proposed merger with the Maltese operations of British American Insurance
(Mauritius), explaining that the merger is still subject to the satisfactory
completion of the due diligence exercises currently underway on the part
of both parties
Galdes denies clash with Dalli
Mr Galdes: "There are no personal clashes at all. My resignation
is not linked to any of this, it is of a personal nature. I enjoy being
involved in various activities and that is why I am involved in the
Commission. At this point however I have decided to present my resignation
from the post of chairman. It is understandable that I should be asked
to re-consider this and I plan to give my definite reply to this request
by next week."

Amid the rough patch that several of Maltas supermarkets
have passed through lately, which saw the closures of the Swatar, Burmarrad
and Naxxar Price Clubs, a new supermarket will be opening its doors
to business St Venera over the coming months. An estimated 200 jobs
are expected to be created

Alterra confirms Lm60.5 million MIA
investment
According to an AFX Europe report in the Financail Times, the Grupo
Dragados SA yesterday announced that the Alterra consortium is currently
in the process of finalising the acquisition of a 40 per cent stake
in Malta International Airport for the price of EUR150 million (Lm60.5
million)
