Cordina calls for trustworthy resources regulator

Interviewed on TVM programme reporter yesterday, economist Gordon Cordina spoke about the need of being able to trust the resources regulator.
“As a citizen and economist I feel there should be a regulator whom I can trust and who can reassure continuous checks on the situation while ensuring that the price is right.
“It is a priority that the electricity service is available and efficient so that undeserved price increases may be avoided. I think this is the element of confidence which we should start adopting in this country.”
Calling for more awareness on consumption, Cordina said: “We know what happened when the price of oil increased. Whether or not it was justified, the shock had to reach us in one way or another. Such shocks could have been absorbed better.”
With regard to the immigration issue, Cordina feels Malta will be facing “economic repercussions”.
His controversial theory points out that with immigration, the Maltese economy will be affected in terms of employment.
“Where will they work and what is their potential to contribute to the economy?,” he asked.
