New government, new future in Bulgaria

Incoming new Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boiko Borissov picked sixteen ministers for the new Bulgarian government, amongst them Simeon Djankov a senior World Bank Economist as Minister of Finance and Svilen Neykov, Bulgarian rowing champion and coach and husband of Bulgarian Beijing Olympics Gold Medalist Rumyana Neykov, as Minister for the newly created Sports Ministry.
Another key ministry has been entrusted to Traycho Traykov. He is the Economy Minister, whose portfolio includes energy and tourism, one of the main pillars of the Bulgarian economy.
The new government will be pushing an aggressive agenda including reducing public expenditure and working more closely with the EU, which Bulgaria joined as a full member on the 1 January of 2007.
Boikov Borissov who was mayor of the capital Sofia, campaigned and won this election on the 6 July on a platform of restoring the country’s economic health and putting an end to corruption and accountability.
The new Prime Minister has a reputation of a doer and a strict disciplinarian having achieved considerable success in delivering on his promise as mayor of Sofia.
